What is the timeline to complete my project?
This is a common question from homeowners when they are considering a home renovation, and rightly so. The answer however is complex. Many factors need to be considered when determining how long your home renovation will take. What project are you considering? Is there a demolition of any current development that is needed to be done? Are there any electrical or plumbing changes that will need to be completed? Are there any framing changes or additions? What permits and inspections will be required to allow completion of your project. Are there cabinets and countertops that need to be ordered and installed? Drywall, flooring install, finishing carpentry and painting all require coordination to allow a seamless movement from one stage to the next.
A basement development will have a realistic timeline of 10-12 weeks completion time, when you factor all the items required to complete this type of a project. A custom kitchen renovation is somewhere in the 6-8 week range, but the cabinets can take between 2-3 months from the order date before they are installed. This can add to your total timeline, so it is something to consider when planing your renovation. A bathroom renovation is usually around a 4-6 week completion time. Factors that can influence this will be the availability of materials and fixtures for your bathroom.
At Cochrane Home Solutions, I will work with you at each stage of your home renovation to meet the promised timeline. I will be upfront when it comes to how long your project will likely take to complete. I prefer to under promise and over deliver when it comes to your home renovation, so you know when I give you a completion date I will meet it.
